Avnet Names Sean Valcamp as Its First Chief Information Security Officer

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today named Sean Valcamp to the company's newly created role of chief information security officer (CISO). Valcamp will be responsible for Avnet's global IT security in addition to enterprise architecture and strategic planning for IT. In this role, he will report to Steve Phillips, Avnet's chief information officer.

This includes educating employees on security, establishing a Global Information Security Policy and building a security operations team that protects Avnet from security threats. He also developed Avnet's annual "State of IT Security: What You Need to Know," which helps employees and readers better understand major cybersecurity threats and tactics. Additionally, Valcamp regularly shares his expertise and knowledge on cybersecurity with Avnet customers and industry organizations.
