Avnet,
Inc. (NYSE:AVT),
a leading global technology distributor, today named Sean Valcamp to the
company's newly created role of chief information security officer
(CISO). Valcamp will be responsible for Avnet's global IT security in
addition to enterprise architecture and strategic planning for IT. In
this role, he will report to Steve
Phillips, Avnet's chief information officer.

Valcamp holds more than 25 years of IT experience in the areas of IT

development. Valcamp joined Avnet 16 years ago and has significantly
strengthened Avnet's IT security capabilities over the years. This
includes educating employees on security, establishing a Global
Information Security Policy and building a security operations team that
protects Avnet from security threats. He also developed Avnet's annual "State
of IT Security: What You Need to Know," which helps employees and
readers better understand major cybersecurity threats and tactics.
Additionally, Valcamp regularly shares his expertise and knowledge on
cybersecurity with Avnet customers and industry organizations.
Valcamp was recently recognized by Computerworld as a Rising IT
Star, and Valcamp and his team played an instrumental role in Avnet
receiving IT industry awards for innovation, including being named to
the InformationWeek Elite 100 and CIO 100.
