Avnet Technology Solutions Expands Consolidation Impact Assessment Services to Drive New Storage Engagements for Partners

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, a value-added distributor of enterprise computing products, software and services and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today expanded its Consolidation Impact Analysis (CIA) offering to include storage. The service enables Avnet's HP value-added reseller (VAR) partners to drive new sales through a comprehensive assessment of an end customer's storage environment to determine the best combination of resources to meet their storage needs. The CIA service is part of Avnet's Market Connection methodology, a complete go-to-market framework that simplifies a partner's entry into new markets, improving opportunities for profitable growth.

With Avnet Technology Solutions' innovative CIA for Storage service, partners assess a customer's storage environment, provide a total cost of ownership analysis, and recommend the HP storage solutions and services most appropriate for their needs. The data in the analysis provides the partner's end-user customer with an objective review of the financial and technical benefits of storage consolidation.

'Effective data management allows customers to generate a better return on their IT investments,' said Rick Alvarez, vice president and general manager, HP Business Unit, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas. 'Avnet's CIA for Storage service enables our HP partners to accelerate their storage sales by analyzing their customers' current storage environments. They can efficiently and cost effectively identify the non-relevant data that takes up valuable storage space and then recommend the storage solution that's truly needed to store business-critical information.'

With the CIA for Storage service, Avnet's HP partners analyze data based on usage and file type. Using this inventory of an end customer's environment, they can determine where storage consolidation is most needed. Partners can then work with Avnet to effectively design, architect and implement a tiered storage or information life-cycle management strategy, ensuring that their customer's storage capacity is appropriate for their current and future level of use.

'Avnet has taken a proven methodology for server consolidation and applied it to the storage market,' said Jeff Pietrick, vice president, StorageWorks business unit - Americas, HP. 'As a result, our resellers can recommend and implement effective storage strategies so that their end customers can concentrate on other areas of business.'

'We have been using Avnet's CIA for servers and are very excited about the addition of the storage component,' said Gary Johnston, president, IT Partners. 'We're confident it will help us reduce costs for engaging new customers, accelerate the sales cycle and give us a competitive advantage in the storage market.'
