Avnet Inc. Elects Two New Corporate Officers

PHOENIX -- Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT) announces the election of two new corporate officers, Fred J. Cuen and Steve Tepedino.

Cuen currently serves as president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, Partner Solutions division, and shares responsibility and accountability with Tepedino, president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, Customer Segment Solutions division, for the performance of the region. Together, the two provide the strategic vision, leadership and day-to-day management to ensure the continued success of these businesses, which exceed $4 billion in yearly revenues.

Prior to being promoted to his current post, Cuen was president of Avnet Partner Solutions, IBM Americas, from August 2004 until June 2005, with responsibility for Avnet Technology Solutions' IBM businesses in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Australia. Before that, he served as executive vice president and general manager, and previously had been senior vice president of sales and general manager, IBM Business Unit for Avnet Hall-Mark (now Avnet Partner Solutions). During his leadership Cuen was responsible for growing Avnet's IBM two-tier U.S. reseller business from $800 million to more than $1.5 billion.

Prior to joining Avnet, Cuen was vice president of sales and business development at Savoir Technology Group, which was acquired by Avnet in 2000. He joined Western Micro Technology Inc. (later renamed Savoir) in 1996 as vice president and general manager of sales.

In January 2004, Tepedino was named president of Avnet Partner Solutions, Americas (formerly Avnet Hall-Mark), a division of Avnet Technology Solutions. Before this appointment and the creation of the IBM Division, he was president of Avnet Hall-Mark, beginning in 2002, with responsibility for all of Avnet's computer distribution businesses. With the help of his leadership team, he developed innovative strategies for growth while optimizing the financial performance of the division. Tepedino grew the computer distribution businesses from $1.36 billion to $2.05 billion in two years.

Prior to that, Tepedino served as executive vice president with responsibility for Avnet Hall-Mark's Hewlett-Packard, Intel Architecture, Services and Storage business units. He began his career at Avnet in 1984 as a technical specialist and was soon promoted to district and regional management positions in Avnet's end-user computer business before transferring to Avnet Hall-Mark, where he was promoted to regional vice president in 1995.

Cuen, based in San Antonio, and Tepedino, based in Phoenix, report to Rick Hamada, president of Avnet Technology Solutions.

'I am very pleased to recognize the valuable contributions of Fred Cuen and Steve Tepedino,' said Roy Vallee, Avnet Inc. chairman and CEO. 'On behalf of the Avnet executive board and board of directors, I congratulate them on being elected corporate officers.'
